Google Ads Updates

Google’s New Performance Max and Updated Reporting

Google’s new Performance Max campaigns (or, PMax for short), which was first introduced in January 2022, has now replaced a good portion of our Smart Shopping and Local campaigns. This new campaign type allows advertisers to select more than one conversion goal as well as give each of them a priority level. This Google Ads update now has marketers thinking about how we can report things moving forward. Here is a brief overview of the Performance Max update and some ideas as to how reporting may look.

If your campaigns have not switched to Performance Max yet, here is a quick look at what you can expect in the upcoming weeks as Google automatically upgrades all campaigns to Performance Max before the holiday season:

Monthly Digital Roundup August Edition
  • Smart Shopping and Local campaigns will be deactivated (NOT deleted)
  • Smart Shopping and Local campaigns historical data will still be available for analytics purposes
  • Your upgraded PMax campaigns will have the ability to integrate with Search Ads 360
  • Google highly recommends upgrading to Performance Max on your own as opposed to waiting for Google to upgrade your campaigns automatically. This will ensure a smoother transition as well as ample time for advertisers to ease into the new platform.

Facebook is testing different ways to find Facebook Groups and launching “Channels” for a more intimate settings for similar groups of people

First being only introduced to a percentage of Facebook users, Facebook has created a sidebar specifically for your Facebook Groups. Users will have the ability to prioritize Groups, pin Groups, and even see the latest updates. Facebook adds that this will help users become inspired to organize and create their own Groups as well as buy Group “swag”.

Group Admins will now have the ability to create channels within Groups with the goal of creating more intimate spaces for specific topics. Chats in channels will be omnichannel (both in Facebook Groups and Facebook Messenger).

Other worthy mentions: there will be an audio feature allowing real live chat within Groups!
